Anthem Of The Day: The “Thank You, Facebook” Song

Comedian Joe Mande noticed that a group of exuberant Facebook fanatics have recorded a song and shot a music video thanking Facebook on the day of its IPO. The video — called “Thank You Facebook Song — dedicated to its FB IPO” — was posted to YouTube on Wednesday and can be “enjoyed” above.

“I want to thank you for bringing to me…friends and family.”

BOTTOMS UP, TECHIES: The Facebook IPO Drinking Game

You might have heard that Facebook has its IPO on Friday. Now, depending on your preferences, you could earnestly follow this huge story, digging through all of the television, web, and print coverage for nuanced, original perspective; or you could use the day as an excuse to get absolutely blitzed starting the moment you wake up and turn on your TV.

If the latter sounds like you, then HuffPost’s got you covered: Here are our rules for a Facebook IPO Drinking Game. The first of the Facebook IPO drinking game is, you shouldn’t actually follow these rules, of course, or else you will almost certainly be hospitalized (or worse). The second rule is, if you got in on the IPO, you’re buying the drinks (hat tip Twitter user @joxman).

Play along with us tomorrow on Twitter (@HuffPostTech) and let us know how much drinking/crying you’re doing.

And now, the Facebook IPO Drinking Game.

Infographic: The Rise Of Tumblr’s “Fuck Yeah!” Movement

AN INFOGRAPHIC EXPLORES THE EXPLOSIVE F-BOMB OF A MEME THROUGH ITS SHORT HISTORY.

It may have started with a simple song. “America (Fuck Yeah)” was penned for Team America: World Police, a Matt Stone/Trey Parker flick that was a relatively small deal at the box office, pulling in a ho-hum $50 million or so worldwide.

But that idea—the [something] Fuck Yeah! concept—was clearly catchy. Asthis duo of infographics charts out, between 2007 and 2011, the meme had a meteoric rise, to the point where 150 Fuck Yeah! Tumblr blogs were created in a single day. (And while the phenomenon has peaked, there are still over 100 Fuck Yeah! Tumblr blogs created daily).

Google Knowledge Graph Could Make Clicking Unnecessary

When one searches for “Homer,” Google gets confused. Does it refer to the cartoon character? The Greek epic poet? The fishing town in Alaska?

The search engine spits back a list of blue links with information about all three, and displays images of Homer Simpson’s bald yellow noggin, side by side with marble busts of the famous poet. Diving into the details about the cartoon, town or ancient Greek requires clicking through the sites shown on the page.

All that is about to change with a major upgrade to Google’s search results that aims to eradicate ambiguity and make clicking on the sites shown in search results increasingly unnecessary.
